He was scheduled to go on fifth at Woodstock, but when folk-rock group Sweetwater found themselves stuck in traffic, Richie Havens became the opening act of history’s most legendary music festival.

Havens embodied the loving, peaceful spirit of 60s pop music, but he only had one Top 20 hit: A 1971 cover of George Harrison’s “Here Comes The Sun”. Check out this awesome live performance below and you’ll feel alright!
