The city of Laredo is implementing some new orders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a report from our news partners at KWTX, the city of Laredo is taking new measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The Stay Home-Work Safe Order is now in place until April 30.

City councils not only extended the previous order, but added curfew to the order as well. The new curfew time will begin at 10 PM and end at 5 AM everyday. Essential employees are exempt from the curfew, but must have a letter from their employer that states that they are an essential employee.

The city council is also asking that anyone going out into a public place like a grocery store, public office, or government building cover their face with a mask, bandanna, handkerchief, scarf, or cloth.

The order does not require individuals to cover their face if they are driving or exercising at home.

Those that violate the order could face a fine of up to $1,000 or even jail time.

Do you agree with the new additions to the order? Should your county follow suit?
