TEMPLE, Texas– The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team battled wind Tuesday, finishing fourth at the UMHB Lady Cru Fall Invitational in Temple. The UMHB women posted a 320-331=651 team-total and finished 12 shots behind Tyler Junior College's winning total of 311-328=639. Schreiner University claimed second after posting a 318-324=642 total and Western Texas College rounded out the top three with a score of 320-324=644. The two-day, 36-hole event was played on a par-72, 5,820 yard layout at the Wildflower Country Club.

Sara Eckert posted the best individual finish for the Cru after shooting 76-79=155. Eckert, who tied for third in par-3 and par-4 scoring, had three birdies and 23 pars in the tournament. She finished sixth overall. Taylor O'Rear finished tied for 10th with a 77-85=162.O'Rear tied for third in par-3 scoring and carded 18 pars. Allison Holly and Kelly Gonyea ended the tournament tied for 13th place. Holly, who fired a 79-85=164, had three birdies and 18 pars. Gonyea shot an 84-80=164 and tied for second in par-3 scoring.

Elizabeth Davis (81-84=165) and Victoria Thane (83-82=165) finished tied for 18th place. Emily Santos was 28th with a 86-85=171 and Ashley Garbade finished in a tie for 30th place after shooting 87-87=174. Stephanie Bertelsen and Franzi Voellinger, both of Western Texas College, tied for first place in the tournament. Bertelsen, who shot 76-76=152 won the scorecard-playoff over Voellinger, who fired a 75-77=152.

The Lady Cru will return to the course October 14th-16th in the Golfweek Fall Preview in Sandestin, Fla.
