If you have any unpaid traffic tickets or other misdemeanors to clear up with the City of Killeen, you'd better do it soon. Otherwise, you may end up in handcuffs.

Many of the warrants are for traffic-related citations for which the violator failed to appear in court or comply with the judge’s orders.

Killeen Municipal Judge Mark Kimball is giving the community a heads-up: Killeen's Municipal Court and the Killeen Police Department are working to clear outstanding warrants through a warrant roundup, and anyone with a Killeen Municipal Court warrant should go to the court immediately to resolve citations and avoid being arrested.

City marshals and police officers are already out making arrests, and you can be taken into custody at home, at work, or even at school.

"The goal of the warrant roundup is to clear outstanding City of Killeen Class C Misdemeanor warrants and to gain compliance in these cases," City spokesperson Hilary Shine said. "Many of the warrants are for traffic-related citations for which the violator failed to appear in court or comply with the judge’s orders."

If you've got an old speeding ticket or other citation stuffed away in your glove box, purse, or wallet, fish it out and do the right thing before something embarrassing happens that could cost you time and money. If you're not sure if you have any outstanding warrants in Killeen, you can check by calling (254) 501-7850 or visiting killeentexas.gov/172/Municipal-Court.

If you go to the court and speak with the judge, you'll be able to request options other than payment in full. You'll want to visit the Killeen Municipal Court at 200 E.. Avenue D to make arrangements.

The court is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Recommended times to stop by and explore your options are Tuesday at 9 AM, Wednesday at 10 AM, or Thursday at 1:15 PM.

They don't accept personal checks, so you'll need to get a cashier's check or money order once arrangements are made. They also accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.

Don't sit on this information, folks! You don't want something as simple as a traffic ticket to blow up into something worse.
