When the Killeen Rodeo was in town back in May, the Killeen Police Force got to wear Cowboy hats in support of the city event. The officers liked it so much they are now adding Cowboy hats to their uniform policy.

The Killeen Daily Herald reports Police Chief Charles Kimble gave the green light to officers to wear the hats as often as they wish.

The hats have been purchased by the officers themselves and not by the department. They are seen as almost an icebreaker between the police force and the public.

Other departments who wear cowboy hats include the Texas Department of Public Safety as well as the Texas Rangers.
