Killeen ISD Plans To Resume Classes On March 23rd, Attendance Optional

After extending spring break by a week in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Killeen ISD announced in a press conference Tuesday that it plans to resume classes in the district on March 23rd.

KISD Superintendent Dr. John Craft went on to say that if parents don't feel comfortable sending their child to school, they will not be required to do so. The same for staff members but they will have to adhere to absence policies set by the district.

The district says that it plans to work with families who don't want to send their kids back to school, and the district is considering online learning options to ensure a continuity of their child's education if classes do not resume on time as scheduled.

It's important to reiterate that the district PLANS to RESUME. It is not set in stone, as news and information continues to flow in on the COVID-19 pandemic.

KISD officials say they will continue to monitor the situation and follow directives given by the CDC, Bell County Public Health District, and federal authorities.
