Hey Gang,

One of my favorite things on Saturday morning was to wake up, have a bowl of cereal, with tons of sugar on top, and watch TV.  Two of my favorite shows have a birthday today.

It was on this day in 1964 that ABC debuted cartoon "Jonny Quest", and the classic "The Addams Family".

"Jonny Quest" or, "The Adventures of Jonny Quest" was produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions, and created and designed by comic book artist Doug Wildey.  It was inspired by radio serials and comics.  It also featured more realistic art, characters, and stories than Hanna-Barbera had previously used.  In fact, it was the first of several other "action" based adventure shows for Hanna-Barbera, such as "Space Ghost", "The Herculoids", and "Birdman and the Galaxy Trio".  It only last from 64 to 65, but then went into syndication.  After 20 years, they made some new episodes.  Since then there's been films, specials, and comics, but they've all been toned down to be more "kid" friendly than the originals from the 60's.

As for the "Addams Family".

It ran for two years but was out rated by it's competition on CBS called "The Munsters".  I always liked it because they were weird but still a family.  I'm not saying that my family is weird, far from it, but in every "normal" family one stands out as odd, and that was me, so I enjoyed odd in my TV fantasy life.  "You Rang", classic.
