HEB is at it again, serving hundreds of holiday meals to those in need.  The Feast of Sharing 2013 happens tonight from 4-8, at the Mayborn Center in Temple.  Everyone is invited out, especially the homeless and those in need.  You can help by bringing someone with you, an elderly neighbor, or the family down the street, anybody who needs a free hot meal.

There will be lots of fun, free activities for the kids.  Santa will be there, so bring your camera.  Schools, churches and local bands will perform holiday music.    Dave and I will be there along with Peter Christian from US105.

This is not the only stop for H-E-B's Feast of Sharing.  Every year the company takes this free event to 23 communities across the state providing holiday meals and good cheer to 250,000 Texas residents .

You can get an idea of how it works from this Killeen Daily Herald video of last year's Feast of Sharing in Killeen.

It's all part of the H-E-B effort to fight hunger.

Just one Feast of Sharing event equals:

3,000 pounds of sliced turkey

2,500 pounds of cornbread dressing

750 pumpkin pies

380 gallons of mashed potatoes

140 gallons of turkey gravy

95 gallons of cranberry sauce

Local volunteers make it all possible.  Killeen’s Feast of Sharing will be December 17 from 4-8 at the Killeen Civic and Conference, 3601 S. W S Young Dr.   You can still volunteer to help.  Register by calling the Killeen Volunteer Center at 501-7878 or online at www.killeentexas.gov/volunteer.
