As we inch closer to our new norm, some things are starting to open with more openings coming in the very near future.

As reported by KXTX, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have begun getting campsites and recreational areas ready for use at the lakes it oversees, including Lake Belton, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, and Lake Waco.

These lakes, and their facilities, were all shut down due to COVID-19 earlier in the year. Fort Worth District Commander Col. Kenneth N. Reed said Wednesday that the health of his team and the community remains the top priority.

“Protecting our team includes mitigating the spread of the virus and ensuring personnel have the most up-to-date information on appropriate measures to prevent potential spread of COVID-19," he said.

A lot of boat ramps are already open, with the parks around Lake Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lake set to open for day use only beginning Friday. Campsites will remain closed with a tentative opening date of June 1.
