iPhone Has New App to Record You and the Police

KWTX is reporting that local police expect to be recorded. Which is good since there's a new iPhone app that makes it so easy to do.

According to officer Anthony Lourence...

"There’s almost an expectation to be recorded because we ourselves are required and mandated to have body cameras recording during traffic stops or interacting with a citizen."

If you're one of the people, I think there's 3 of you, that have an iPhone all you have to do is say...

"Siri. I’m getting pulled over"

If you have the app those words activate your phone and it will allow you to send a text with your location and video to a designated person – while putting your phone on do not disturb and dimming the screen. The key is to make sure the phone is at an angle that can capture the action. It shouldn't be in your hand. You need to stay hands free. The last thing you want is to have a piece of metal in your hands when dealing with the police. I'm not saying anything will happen to you, but, something could happen to you.

Cassandra Gibson, an attorney at The Carlson Law Firm says it's legal to record but you should be careful...

"That video is recording audio and video while you have it out. You may inadvertently offer evidence against yourself in a criminal or civil suit, which could be detrimental."
