If you grew up in the Western World, you grew up with superstition that when Friday lands on the 13th, it's going to be a bad day.

Some say it was started during the last supper. 13 people were at the table for Jesus's last meal. So you won't find too many dinner tables with 13 place settings. If I ever own a home, and I throw a dinner party, there will be 13 settings, and a cross set up in the back yard. You know, for the kids.

Another possible suggestion to the 13th being unlucky...In 1307 Philip IV of France went medieval on the Knights Templar on October 13th, 1307. Teach them to expect money from the French.

These days Friday the 13th is more associated with bad movies, than with bad luck.

Now when it comes to the "Bad Luck" part, I try to tell people that it's just another day. But I've had friends lose loved ones on Friday the 13th, and you ain't bringing them around to "It's just another day" thinking. I even waited until the end of the day to write this to try to make a point that bad things don't always happen. I guess I waited too long. It looks like the French are involved again.
