Around these parts, when someone says "a pair of HGTV hosts," you automatically think of Chip and Joanna Gaines of "Fixer Upper." They are headquartered in Waco after all. Yet there are two different hosts making their way to Central Texas at the end of the month.

Drew Levin and Danny Perkins are the hosts and protagonists of Renovate to Rent, which as the title states, shows folks how to buy the right property to refurbish and use to get into the landlord business. This makes sense in an economy where financial gurus are saying we all should buy property to rent but live in a rental property itself.

I admit, I don't get it. I always thought about buying a house and taking the equity out but apparently in this buyer's market, that's a no-no. I also hear my mother complaining about the hassle of having tenants and fixing stuff, but others in my family say that's not as difficult as it seems.

Drew and Danny seem to have the answers and they'll be sharing it in seminars across the area. They'll be in Austin, Georgetown, Killeen, Round Rock, San Marcos and Temple. It's a for-profit thing, so be prepared to pay for stuff like books and videos.

With colleges and military personnel in the area (meaning transients and young people) this seems an ideal area for landlords and rental-property income. For more info click here.
