San Juan, Puerto Rico (Sports Network) - Former boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho is clinically "brain dead" after being shot on Tuesday.

According to several reports, Dr. Ernesto Torres said at a news conference on Thursday that doctors will perform several more tests on Camacho and then meet with his family. The doctor had said on Wednesday that the boxer was showing irregular and intermittent brain activity.

The 50-year-old Camacho was shot several times, including in the face, while seated in a Ford Mustang. The shots were fired from a person in a second vehicle and the driver of the Mustang was killed.

Police stated that several bags of cocaine were found in the car that Camacho occupied and that one of the bags was open.

A former champ in both the lightweight and junior lightweight divisions, he posted a record of 79-6-3 during his career and posted 45 wins by knockout. His last fight was in May of 2010.

He has battled drug and legal issues throughout his life and was shot in 2011 when he was the victim of a carjacking.
