Girl Gets Whammed by George Michael News

Hey Gang,

Awhile back there was a discussion in the office about "Heartthrobs".  I brought up how teen-age girls let their hormones get the best of them by falling in love with singers that are gay.  It brought up a moment in my life that truly shocked me.

It was 1984, and MTV actually played video's.  A "fun" song on the radio was from a new band from England called Wham.  It was "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go".  The first time I saw the video I new that the lead singer was different.  I didn't really know what "gay" meant, but what ever it was, this guy seemed to be it.

Of course George Michael went on to be a huge star, and an even bigger sex symbol.  Fast forward to 1999 when George officially "came out".  I was working with a young lady who just loved George Michael.  When the story came over the wire, she was inconsolable.  Of course, me being me just assumed she was joking, so I laughed and made fun of her, which is what a good christian should do.  Turns out, she was serious about being sad.  I still feel she was seriously delusional.

How can you not take one look at this video and not realize that this guy is a girls shopping buddy, not a sex buddy.  I mean come on!  Choose Life, why not choose common sense.  Still a good song though.
