Growing up in the midwest I was lucky enough to live close enough to Waconda Orchards in northern Illinois. This family farm offered strawberry picking in the spring and apples every fall. My brothers and sisters have lots of great photos as kids out filling up huge baskets of strawberries.

In Texas, if you are looking for fresh strawberries there are plenty of options. If you want a fun spring road trip you should check out the berry picking at Froberg's Farm in Alvin, Texas.

Froberg's Farm in Alvin is open all spring for strawberry picking and attracts visitors from all over the state. The rows and rows of strawberries stretch on for days. While some prefer to wait until the end of April or early May for the most flavorful berries, you'll find plenty of ultra-ripe strawberries ready right now!

The farm is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. Froberg's is located at 3601 West Hwy. 6 in Alvin. The farm has it's own smokehouse so if all that berry picking works up an appetite you'll have options.
