I'm sad to report that yet another Fort Hood soldier has been reported missing.

The family of 23-year-old Elder Fernandes say they have not seen or heard from him since Monday, August 17. Killeen Police Department Spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez reports that Fernandes' family filed a missing person report Wednesday.

According to police, Fernandes was last seen Monday afternoon when he was dropped off at his home by his staff sergeant. Fernandes lives on the 2700 block of Woodlands Drive in Killeen.

The soldier is described as standing 5'4" and weighing around 133 pounds. He was last seen wearing black Army physical training shorts, a black t-shirt, and red athletic shoes.

Take a look at the photos above. If you recognize Elder Fernandes or have any information that might help investigators and his family determine where he is, please contact the Killeen Police Department at (254) 200-7905.

Back on August 5, police announced that 28-year-old Brandon Michael Olivares had been charged with first degree murder in the case of Pfc. Brandon Scott Rosecrans, whose body was Monday, May 18 in Harker Heights.

Meanwhile, an investigation continues into the death of Gregory Morales, whose remains were found in a field off Florence Road in Killeen back in June. Morales had been missing since August of 2019 and declared AWOL before being listed as a deserter. He has since been reinstated.

Fort Hood has faced increasing scrutiny over the past several months due to the number of dead and missing soldiers reported in the area. The murder of SPC Vanessa Guillen has made headlines across the globe and sparked calls for independent investigations of Ft. Hood and changes to where and how service members may report harassment and abuse.
