Hey Gang,

Big day in movie history.  It was on this day in 1987 that "The Princess Bride" hit theaters.  Yes, 26 years ago.  "INCONCEIVABLE!"

Here's a few fun facts about it .

It was almost made in the early 80's with Christopher Reeves starring as "Westley"

Andre' the Giant had had back surgery right before production so he was unable to life, or support any of the tiny actors.  In the fight scene with "Westley" actor Carey Elwes  was standing on ramps just below camera view, and a stunt double was used for the shots with Carey on the Giant's back.
Carey Elwes and Mandy Pantinkin both learn to fence for the movie.  Their epic fight scene was actually all done by both actors, except for the somersaults.
The Soundtrack was composed by Mark Knopfler of "Dire Straits". The Title son "Storybook Love" was co-written by Knopfler and singer Willy DeVille.  It was nominated for an Academy Award for best Original Song.
