4th of July means fireworks. Lots of fireworks.

Fireworks officially went on sale Wednesday, and according to Rissa Shaw with KWTX, American Fireworks said they saw their biggest opening day in history. They are also expecting a 50% increase in sales over the July 4th holiday.

The jump in sales can be attributed to the cancellation of firework shows because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has certainly derailed everything else, so in order to let out a little frustration, let's blow some stuff up.

Fireworks stands are also adapting to the new social distancing protocols as well. At American Fireworks, masks must be worn inside their stores and you can also order online and take advantage of curbside pickup. They are also saying to shop early, as crowds are expected to pick up as we get closer to July 4th.

Keep in mind that possessing and setting off fireworks is illegal in Killeen, Temple, Belton, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove and Waco within 5,000 feet of the city limits and can lead to a fine if you're caught with them. That doesn't seem to be stopping any of my neighbors, though. I won't tell if you won't.
