We hate to be party poopers, but the City of Temple wants us to remind everyone that it's illegal to possess and discharge fireworks within city limits.

While it is a bummer, it's important to remember that there's a lot of dry, overgrown vegetation around that could easily catch fire. There's also the noise issue.

Fireworks can be launched on private property outside of city limits, but it's important to be mindful of dry grass and trees and either remove or avoid them. It's also vital that you get permission from the landowner before setting off fireworks on their property.

Keep fire safety in mind, and have an extinguisher or plenty of water or dirt handy in case of an accidental fire.
