With school out for summer, families will be looking for fun stuff to keep the kids (and themselves) from going crazy. The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum can help you out this weekend.

Join them from 11 AM to 2 PM June 1 for a free Family Day featuring activities and crafts for kids of all ages. Make a shark fin hat, a shell painting, or a boat, then hop in the Coast Guard Auxiliary's personal watercraft simulator.

The museum is located in the Santa Fe train depot at 315 West Avenue B in Downtown Temple. They host a free Family Day on the first Saturday of each month, so keep an eye out for more fun this summer.

While the Family Days are free, regular admission fees apply if you want to tour the museum. You can also take a tour during their regular business hours - Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM.

The museum hosts permanent exhibits on Temple's rich history, but also hosts temporary exhibits. In fact, there's a really cool Johnny Cash exhibit titled 1968: A Folsom Redemption that will be on display from June 16 to August 10. It'll feature photos and memorabilia from two journalists who witnessed Johnny's concerts at Folsom prison.
