800 Dunkin' Donut stores are expected to shutdown for good in the U.S.

According to a report shared by our partners at News 10, that’s 8% of its locations in the country.

The company outlined the changes Thursday in its quarterly earnings report. It described the closures as a “real estate portfolio rationalization.”

Dunkin' announced back in February of this year that half of the stores closing are part of Speedway convenience stores.

As of now, the company has not put out a list of the locations that will permanently close.

350 locations outside the United States may possibly close permanently as well, according to the company.

On a brighter note, the company says in it's report, "For Dunkin' U.S., same store sales improved sequentially throughout the quarter, largely as a result of our ability to pivot quickly and introduce new menu items designed to appeal to customers who are now visiting us later in the day."

Well, it looks like many Dunkin' shops will be yet another casualty of the coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully your favorite local Dunkin' stores will be able to stay open.  Not sure what I would do without my Dunkin' coffee to start the day.
