Drew Pearson’s And Cowboy Fan’s Hearts Break Everywhere

The Dallas Cowboys have two of their greats heading to the NFL Hall of Fame with the announcement of former head coach Jimmy Johnson and safety Cliff Harris being part of the 2020 class.

Jimmy Johnson was told the news on national television while he was on the set of FOX's halftime show during Sunday's divisional-round match-up between the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. His former quarterback and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman teared up as he watched from the booth in Green Bay.

A few days later we learned that Cliff Harris would join Jimmy in Canton this August. Cliff is part of the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 1970s.

There is one more member of the 70s' All-Decade Team to be inducted - Dallas Cowboys receiver Drew Pearson.

Pearson had expected to be inducted into this year's class. KSAT News reports that he had invited friends, family and even a local news station to his home to celebrate the news that never was.

The 69-yer-old Pearson couldn't contain how disappointed he was when speaking to the news station at his home. "They broke my heart. And they did it like this! They strung it out like this."

Many former teammates and players went to social media to share their frustration with the NFL's decision. Including Dez Bryant who also wore the 88.

"Can't do nothing about it. Can't catch no more damn passes. Can't run no more routes. It's there. What upsets me more is when they say you don't deserve it, they talk negative about you. There's nothing negative about my career in the NFL. Nothing!"

The Super Bowl champion will be inducted eventually. For now the original 88 will just have to wait.
