Dog Owners Should Walk Their Dog Twice Daily, Says Possible New German Law

A newly proposed law in Germany is sparking debate about caring for your fur baby.

According to a report from The Guardian, Germany's agriculture minister, Julia Klöckner, has introduced a law that would require pet owners to walk their dog twice daily for at least one hour per walking.

As with any new rule, people had a lot of opinions on the new proposal. Klöckner says that it would be up to authorities to enforce the law, but for some reason I don't think enforcing dog walking is at the top of their list of things to do.

"Pets are not cuddly toys, their needs have to be taken into account," Agriculture Minister Julia Klöckner reportedly said about the proposal.

Klöckner has introduced the Hundeverordnung, or Dogs Act, which also states that owners cannot leave their dog home alone all day or outside chained for long periods of time. I definitely appreciate Klöckner's enthusiasm for animal rights, but she may be reaching a bit.
