Cowboys fans are mourning the loss of George Andrie who was part of the team's legendary Doomsday Defense from the late 60's to early 70's.

George was a four-time All-Pro and a five-time Pro Bowler. His career with the Cowboys lasted from 1961 to 1972. He played a portion of that time with fellow D lineman Bob Lilly who is remembered as one of the greatest players in Cowboy history. KWTX has shared some of Lilly's memories of George Andrie. Cowboy's fans can find Lilly's interview here.

Mr. Andrie passed away at his home in Waco on Tuesday morning with his family by his side. His daughter Margaret believes the cause of death was probably congestive heart failure, but that Andrie also suffered from dementia which she believes was caused in part due to his time playing pro football.

Andrie's family is at odds with the NFL over brain injuries caused by the sport and they plan to donate his brain to a CTE study.
