They've inspired music giants like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Charlie Daniels, as well as countless Gospel groups. The Chuck Wagon Gang are coming to Belton for a free love offering concert.

To be a part of this night of fun, fellowship, and soul stirring music, simply show up at Trinity Full Gospel Church, 810 E 2nd Avenue in Belton, on Wednesday February 12. The concert starts at 7 PM, but seating will be limited so try to be there early if you can.

The Chuck Wagon Gang began singing on the radio in Lubbock in 1935, where they were sponsored by Bewley Flour. As word of their beautiful harmonies and inspirational lyrics spread, their fame grew and they were signed to Columbia Records. At one point, they were Columbia's top-selling artists, with record sales topping 39 million.

As the Chuck Wagon Gang torch passed through the generations, they performed at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Grand Ole Opry, and were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Smithsonian Institute's archive of important American recordings.

Throughout it all, they've remained a Gospel-Country group dedicated to lifting spirits and inspiring others.

Today's Chuck Wagon Gang consists of alto singer Shaye Smith (granddaughter of original alto Anna "Effie" Carter), guitarist Karl Smakula, sonorous soprano Melissa Kemper, and tenor Stan Hill. (Hill has been a fan of the group since he was a child, and it's great to see his dream of joining the group came true.)

Don't miss your opportunity to hear the legendary Chuck Wagon Gang live at Belton's Trinity Full Gospel Church Wednesday, February 12. Remember: This free concert begins at 7 PM, but you'll want to be there early if you want to get a good seat.

Whether you sit or stand, we hope the concert is uplifting and brings you and yours joy.

You'll hear fantastic Gospel artists like the Chuck Wagon Gang every Sunday morning from 7 AM to 9 AM KTEM 1400 AM's Sunday Gathering with Rick Smith and Bill Hecke. You can tune in on your radio, at ktemnews.com/listen-live, or via the free KTEM App or Amazon Alexa Skill.
