Cheers! Free Beer on the Menu at Rescheduled Temple Block Party

April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring cancellations sometimes. That was the case with an event I was absolutely stoked for late last month: The Imagine Downtown Temple Block Party.

If that sounds familiar to you, it's probably because I published a previous article emphasizing FREE BEER.

Wait, What Happened?

The party was supposed to happen Friday, May 30, but strong storms rolled in and organizers were forced to postpone. I mean, free beer is great and all, but I'd rather not drink it crammed under an awning with a bunch of people trying to get out of the rain.

Now, Here's the Good News

The party is back on! It's been rescheduled for Thursday, May 13. Oh, and free beer is still on the table. (While supplies last, anyway. Get there early.)

Everything kicks off at 6:00 PM at Temple's Santa Fe Plaza, 301 W Avenue A. Michael Carubelli will perform live music to bring the square alive, and there'll be family activities, food trucks, and giveaways.

What is This All About?

Now you be asking yourself, "What's the occasion?" Well, the City of Temple is calling it an "Imagine Downtown" event because that's precisely what they'd like you to do - imagine the sort of improvements, businesses, and events you'd like to see come to Downtown Temple. They want you to have a voice in decisions made about the area.

If You Can't Make It, You Can Still Make Your Opinions Heard

It's going to be a great time, but if you're still iffy about crowds due to the pandemic (totally understandable, by the way) or can't make it out, you can still be a part of the effort to make Downtown Temple and even better place to visit and even live.

Temple continues to grow, but we can't neglect our beautiful Downtown. It's filled with so much history and culture, and I hope to see as much of that preserved as possible as we find ways to bring new developments, businesses, events to the area.

The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
