A very notable African American holiday celebrated across the country on the 19th day of June is known as Juneteenth.

For those of you that don't know what Juneteenth is, it's the holiday that commemorates the day of June 19, 1865 when all the slaves were set free in Texas as well as the Confederate States of America.

It's a celebration that celebrates all Americans being thought of as equal, and has brought us to our present state as a country.

Under One Roof Central Texas Housing Consortium is celebrating with their 18th Annual Juneteenth Festival taking place on Thursday June 20th.

The festival will be taking place at  Friendship House at 1609 East Avenue I in Temple, Texas. The festival will kick off at 10:00 a.m., and last till 3:30 p.m..

There are volunteers still needed for this event, and if you are interested in volunteering just call 254-773-2009 for more information.

Come out, celebrate, and have a good time for a grand holiday!
