Hey Gang,

You might not realize it, but today is the day that CBS thought it would be a could idea to cancel a classic for Festus.

Yep, it was on this day in 1967 that "Gilligan's Island" was axed by CBS.  My one question...Why would you traumatize a nation by leaving 7 people stranded on a Island?  You evil bastards!  Then, you sell it to syndication so children all around the world will get involved in the show, and then realize that they never get saved.  What the hell did CBS do for and encore, go home and kick some puppies?

Luckily, someone realized this in 1978 and made a TV movie, "Rescue from Gilligan's Island" showing the cast being rescued.  But then, these evil bandages had them get stranded again at the end of the movie, on the same damn island.  Were these writers German?  What the hell people?

Of course it was rectified in 1979 with, "The Castaways of Gilligan's Island", when they finally got off the Island for good, and the Howells turned the Island into a resort.  But the damage had been done.

Thanks for Traumatizing us all CBS.  What makes it worse, is it was all done to save the TV show "Gunsmoke".  That's right, because some  people of power wanted to see an aging gunfighter and an even older prostitute, CBS removed a top 20 show without a even a by your leave.

Of course the theme, which I showed you at the beginning of this artical,  is now famous but if you saw the original pilot episode you heard, and saw, something different.
