Blue Heaven Is A Place On Earth
Today's Morning Show with James Harrison featured the song "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" by Belinda Carlisle. Today is the anniversary of the break-up of the all-girl group The Go-Go's, of which Carlisle was a member. "Heaven" was her first and only chart-topper either with or without The Go-Go's and still gets heavy airplay from hits stations.
I've always been a fan of 80's music, and this song is a favorite. However, it wasn't until Google came along that I realized I was making a fool of myself every time I belted this one out in the shower.
Not that there's any way to be cool while singing in the shower.
See, I always thought she was singing, "Blue Heaven is a place on Earth". It never occurred to me to wonder what the heck "Blue Heaven" was. The ocean? The sky? A bottle of Skyy Vodka?
That last one actually seems reasonable.
It wasn't until I got into an argument with an equally socially inept friend over the lyrics that I decided to Google it, and boy did I feel like a dingus. Turns out she was singing “Ooo, Heaven is a place on Earth”.
Rather than eat crow, however, I have continued to sing “Blue Heaven is a place on Earth” and will continue to do so until the day I die!
