Bill Withers and the Power of the Personal Playlist

Last week, a friend in the music industry whom I’ve known since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, challenged all of her Facebook friends to the following spiritual exercise of personal playlist curation:

“Today, list 10, ok, up to 15 songs that bring you to your knees.”

Her previous challenge was easy enough, to name five identity-defining defining artists. You know, when people hear them they start thinking of you. This latest query is even more personal. I’m still stewing over this, wondering how much I want to share of those songs which cut me to the quick.

Bill Withers’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” is one of those songs. Two minutes and change of pure perfection. This one would definitely be on there. I saw this article on Bill Withers and had to share. 

After reading that, maybe I’ll get the courage to finish that playlist. This will put me in the mood:
