Classic hits that made the "Cassette" back in 1980 with Big Q.

I know it’s hard to believe, but yes, I used to monitor the radio so i could record my favorite songs. I’d fill up a 90-minute cassette then take it out to my Pontiac Phoenix and crank up my Kraco. In 1980 I was trying to grab this hit.

Rumor had it that it was about self-love. That was, of course, denied by the band who said it could’ve been Portuguese, or Lebanese, or anything that fit the phrasing. They claim the song was about a person who lost a loved one and was slowly going crazy or Japanese.

Either way, it didn’t matter. When I heard the DJ say,

"Here is the Vapors with “Turning Japanese”.

My finger hit the record button, and I was turning happy.

It didn’t go that high on the charts in America, but it went high in my sp…memory bank. From 1980 here’s the Vapors.
