A 33-year-old man was in the Bell County Jail Thursday after police say he and a juvenile suspect fired shots at houses in Belton, then led police on a chase.

According the Bell County Sheriff's Department, shots were fired at two houses in the 5900 block of Sophie Lane and the 3700 block of Canyon Heights Drive early Wednesday morning. Deputies were dispatched to both scenes, and while conducting their investigation heard shots being fired a short distance away on FM 439.

When deputies attempted to stop a vehicle spotted in the area where the shots were fired, the car sped away. Deputies were able to catch up with the vehicle and stop it after a short chase.

Christopher Alan Nelson of Belton and an unidentified juvenile suspect were taken into custody. Police say a firearm was found in their vehicle. Police say they have reason to believe the pair were involved in other drive-by shootings in the area.

Anderson was booked in the Bell County Jail at 5:27 AM Wednesday, and remained there Thursday night. He's charged with third degree felony evading arrest and third degree felony deadly conduct with a firearm. His bond had not been set as of Thursday night.

The teen suspect was taken to the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
