Belton ISD Celebrates Five All-State Fine Arts Students
Belton ISD is bragging on five students who have excelled in the fine arts and were honored at a Board of Trustees meeting Monday evening.
All-State dancer Amber Kunz, co-captain of the Belton High School Magic Belles, performed with 250 dancers from across Texas at the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) Conference the second week of January.
Kunz was one of just five scholarship recipients to participate. In fact, she was honored with the top scholarship of $2,500 after being recommended by Magic Belle's Director Rachel Hill and impressing TDEA officials with her extra-curricular activities and dance abilities.
Belton High senior and Marching 100 Drum Major Sara Hoffman was selected as a member of the Texas All-State Band. Hoffman, a clarinet player, will perform alongside the best musicians from across the state.
Kara Fish, a junior member of the Belton High A Cappella Choir, will perform with the Texas All-State Mixed Choir for the second year in a row.
Seniors Andrew Holcomb and Ian Farrell, both members of the Belton High A Cappella Choir, will perform with the Texas All-State Tenor/Bass Choir.
These are tremendous accomplishments when you consider that only the top 2.5% of vocalists who audition at the Texas Music Educators Association all-state level are invited to participate.
“We’re proud of the diversity and quality of the Fine Arts programs offered in Belton ISD and want to celebrate Amber, Sara, Kara, Andrew and Ian for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon said. “To be selected for the prestigious All-State honor is significant for these students, their families and our Fine Arts Department.”
We at Townsquare Media would like to congratulate these awesome kids on their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments and wish them all the best as they continued to proudly represent Central Texas.
