Two members of Belton High School's A Cappella Choir have been chosen from among over 15,000 Texas students to perform in all-state choirs alongside other top musicians in our state Saturday.

Kara Fish and Rachel Wohleb have been selected as members of the Texas All-State Choirs. They'll perform at the Texas Music Educations Association Convention in San Antonio on February 17, where they'll have the opportunity to work with world renowned clinicians.

Fish, a sophomore member of the Belton High School A Cappella Choir, will perform with the Texas All-State Mixed Choir as 1st chair Alto 1. She sings at school under the direction of Tonya Lovorn - a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), a 19,000+ member organization headquartered in Austin. In addition, Kara is a student of Shelley Dennis.

Wohleb, a senior member of the Belton High School A Cappella Choir, will perform with the Texas All-State Treble Choir as 4th chair Soprano 1. Rachel also sings under the direction of Tonya Lovorn, and is a student of Teri Johnson as well.

This will be the first time either young woman has performed as part of a TMEA All-State organization. Of the over 15,000 Texas high school students who initially audition at the region level, the two are among the top 2.5% that become all state choir members.

“Belton High School Choir is so proud and excited to watch these two ladies experience singing with the best choirs in the state,” described Choir Director Tonya Lovorn. “This is a huge honor and a moment that they will remember for the rest of their lives.”

“We’re proud of both Kara and Rachel for their hard work and commitment to excellence,” added Superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon. “To be selected for this prestigious honor is significant for these students, their families and our Fine Arts Department.”

From all of us here at Townsquare Media, congratulations to these wonderfully talented young women!
