Mt. Vernon's Tiger Football team is off to a red hot start after their third win in a row this past Friday. The former Baylor coach crushed Canton on Friday by a final of 57-0 for yet another lopsided victory.

What is so special about win number 3? It was the first home contest for the Tigers so far this year so the team flexed their muscles in front of the home crowd.

In their three match-ups so far this year the Tigers have won by final scores of 44-16, 50-20, and 57-0. Briles was let go by Baylor in 2016 and spent a couple of years unable to find a new coaching spot. Once the opportunity came along at Mt. Vernon Briles has been all in and has Mt. Vernon looking like a powerhouse team early on this year.

Supports for Briles have been showing up in the stands week after week and they say it's just nice to see coach back doing what he loves. The last time Briles coached at the High School level was back in 1999 when he took Stephenville to several state titles.
