Over twenty plus years ago, when Adam Sandler first performed "The Chanukah Song" on Saturday Night Live – at the time, the show itself wasn't even twenty years old – few would have anticipated it was the start of the holiday season franchise. Few would have thought the skinny kid playing the song would have gone on to be one of comedy's top box office draws in the late 90s/early 2000's (especially not the NBC brass who ordered him dumped from the show in 1995.) And yet after its first appearance, subsequent release on Sandler's debut album, They're All Going to Laugh at You, the ditty has been revised by Sandler several times to update the timely celebrity name checking inherent to the humor in the song. What should be a tired retread by this time, remains funny. Enjoy for yourself and mazel tov!
