I am abundantly clear when it comes to Thanksgiving food: If I don't want it, I'm not gonna eat it. PERIOD. I don't give a rat's aspirations if my parents and their parents and their ancestors before them had it every year. I don't want it.

But according to a new survey, a majority of Americans will show up to Thanksgiving dinner this year and eat food they secretly HATE because of "tradition". Pardon me, but I have to ask:

According to a new Instacart survey of more than 2,000 U.S. adults conducted online by The Harris Poll, 68% of Americans secretly dislike a classic Thanksgiving food but eat it anyway because of tradition. No wonder so many families have drama around this time of the year. Yall mad because you're forcing yourselves to eat food you don't like.

This survey went further and found out the top 5 foods folks are eating but don't want to and here are the top choices. Don't do this to yourself this year okay.

    Turkey

The centerpiece of the entire holiday is also one of the foods folks secretly hate to eat every year. 19% of the folks polled secretly don't want to eat turkey but will probably never tell you. So what's the alternative? Ham, Brisket, Popeyes chicken sandwiches?

    Pumpkin Pie

21% of the folks surveyed more than likely will show up to your Thanksgiving dinner bragging about how much they love pumpkin pie like Linus welcoming the Great Pumpkin but deep down don't have the guts to say they hate it.

    Sweet Potatoes/Sweet Potato Casserole

Now I know for a fact a LOT of folks are lying when they say they "love" sweet potatoes. I mean look at this thing man. There's nothing to me that says "this is sweet" nor does it actually taste "sweet" unless you drop a pound of sugar on them. But 22% of those surveyed will continue to let this LIE live on this Thanksgiving.

    Green Bean Casserole

I KNEW IT. All the GBC hype I see on social media but yall REALLY don't like this dish so why are yall subjecting yourselves to such torture? 24% of respondents still slap THIS on their plate even though they don't want to.

    Canned Cranberry Sauce

My wife made this last year and I asked her "Why?" because I knew I wasn't going to have any. I knew our kids wouldn't have any. But she insisted that it was "tradition" and that someone would eat it.

    Nobody did.

Cranberry sauce was the top food people secretly hate but eat anyway according to 29% of the folks surveyed. Nearly half of Americans (46%) say canned cranberry sauce is “disgusting.” Here's the kicker:

Instacart customers bought 50% more canned cranberry sauce than fresh cranberries last Thanksgiving.

Soooooooo WHY HAVE IT IF YOU HATE IT?
