169 Years Ago – Edgar Allen Poe Published “The Raven”
Hey Gang,
It was on this day 169 years ago that we first heard a tapping.
The year was 1845 and the Evening Mirror published the classic poem, "The Raven". It made Edger Allan Poe a household name but he was only paid 9 dollars.
In 1976 Alan Parsons teamed up with Eric Woolfson and released "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", which were songs based on Poe's writings. I first listened to this album lying down on my bed with head phones. When the Tell Tale Heart song came on, I damn near levitated off the bed it scared me so much. Here is Alan Parson's Projects version of "The Raven".
