Weird Al Operates On Madonna Like A Surgeon

Omigawd, we love Weird Al. He's the "it" we all aspire to be. And he's been doing it since the dawn of the eighties. Homer Simpson once famously said, "He who's tired of Weird Al is tired of life." Here's one of his best. Let's have a look at "Like A Surgeon."

Summer of 1985. Out of high school. This album came out. Dare To Be Stupid was the title. It was a game changer. Parodies so good, the actual artists themselves were amazed. The title tune, a nod toward Devo, was called by that band's lead singer/songwriter Mark Mothersbaugh, "The best Devo song we didn't write, ever." At the time was seen as the music industry's clown, and not given much thought to. A flash in the pan. A moment's amusement, nothing more. Well, thirty years later all those record execs are out of a job and Al just had the first number one debut for a comedy album since 1963. Today's tune shreds apart the Madonna classic, and if you look close you can see a quick ode to the Material Girl, as well. Also the thing is gosh darn funny, still, after all these years.
