Volunteers needed to place American flags on Veterans’ graves at Killeen City Cemetery for Memorial Day

Sheryl Brown and Walter Brown (owners of Big Hoss BBQ) place American flags on all Veterans' grave sites at the Killeen City Cemetery for Memorial Day every year.

They are hoping to have your help this year, as approximately 1,300 flags will be placed throughout the cemetery. If you'd like to volunteer your time for this great event, please be at the Killeen City Cemetery (this cemetery is located on Rancier) no later than 8:30 am on Saturday, May 25. Volunteers will gather on the south side of the cemetery, under/around a small pavilion. Big Hoss BBQ will also provide refreshments and light snacks for the volunteers.

It is expected to be a nice hot summer morning, so please stay hydrated. No need to respond, just please show up.

One of last year's volunteers, Dawn Spires commented, "It is a wonderful sight to see all of the American flags on the grave sites once complete. A very rewarding feeling and just a great thing to do!"
