1987 was the big year for the band U2-- both of their number one hits (they only had two) were in that year.

U2 was a rock band formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1976. It emerged in 1987 as a leading rock act.  They released a concert tour documentary move "Rattle and Hum" in 1988. U2 is the only Irish band to have major hits in the US-- "With or Without You" was their biggest, reaching number one for three weeks starting in March of 1987; and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", which was number one for two weeks in June of the same year.

"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was nominated for two grammy awards for best best song and best performance by a group.

We featured the song on today's morning show.  Here it is--a live version recorded with a gospel choir--

Pretty good, huh?
