KWTX is reporting that the city of Crawford, Texas has closed the swimming hole at Tonkawa Falls due to safety concerns. No rain means no falls when the water is this low.

The popular swimming hole west of Waco will still host 4th of July activities next week, there just won't be any swimming allowed. The water level is just to low for swimmers attempting to jump off the rocks.

Crawford Mayor Marilyn Judy says the closure tends to happen around this time of year depending on rainfall. She told KWTX the water has become stagnant due to the shortage of rain.

The closure of the swimming hole is slated to remain in place until further notice, but the park remains open for additional activities besides swimming. Do you have a go-to swimming hole for summer? We'd love to hear about it!
