The Plague Has Landed in Texas

Thanks New Mexico. It seems the plague has jumped the border and is hanging out in West Texas.

A few weeks ago, I shared a story about plague diagnoses happening in New Mexico. Well, now  the Texas Standard is reporting that the little fleas carrying the Black Death have jumped on enough critters and are now infecting West Texas prairie dogs.

This past week, Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge near Lubbock closed portions of the park when two prairie dog communities tested positive for Yersinia pestis. Those of you who will occasionally lose your minds and go camping should be careful. If you see a dead critter, don't eat it. Stay away from it, and keep you pets away from it as well. Take precautions against flees, and just stay away from wildlife in general out there.

You'd best just go find a Super 8 with free HBO and pick bed bugs off each other.
