A lesser part of the 80s British Invasion include a hit from The Icicle Works.

One of the lesser known bands that was part of the second British Invasion, or third if you want to count the “real” invasion in the 18th Century, was The Icicle Works. Odds are you don’t know who I’m talking about. That’s fine, but you will recognize the song.

They were a band from Liverpool. Which I find odd that anyone would ever claim to be from Liverpool. Why would you want to try the follow the Beatles? That’s insane! Claim to be from Rugby North Dakota. It’s the geographical center of North America, that’s boring so it's easy to follow.

They’re big hit in the states was "Birds Fly/Whisper to a Scream", or "Whisper to a Scream/Birds Fly" depending on what country you're from. It had that standard “heavy drum sound” that a lot of us loved which was made more famous by Bow Wow Wow & Adam & the Ants, but you can also hear it “Whisper to a Scream”. Which I always associated with dating as a teenager. You start out whispering sweet nothings, and if you got naked, then you'd hear screaming.

“WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?”

From 1984 here is The Icicle Works, and Birds Fly/Whisper to a Scream”.
