The Hub in downtown Temple has been a part of the city's history since 1901. This Friday the Temple Historic Preservation Committee will honor the building with a Temple Historic Marker and reception that will take place at 5 p.m.

The Hub is down on S. 2nd Street in downtown Temple.

It started out as a two-story structure that was home to a harness shop in 1901 (photo above). Over the years the building has served as a Lutheran Service Center, Texas National Guard along with Casey's Furniture.

Renovations at the Hub over the last few years (2016) have turned the building into a 22,000 square foot modern facility with brick walls, stamped tin ceilings, concrete, and wood floors and more! Renovated in a Romanesque Revival style the Hub is now owned by Pan and Joe Shepperd and Holley Gosh.

Temple's historic marker program is reserved for significant buildings who's operation encourages preservation and restoration within the city. Any group wishing to apply for a marker must provide documentation to the Historic Preservation Committee. Anyone interested in attending the marker presentation can RSVP to the Temple Visitor Center at 298-5900.
