The Ed Sullivan Show was a long-running variety series that premiered on CBS on June 20, 1948 with the title "Toast of the Town."  It was hosted by New York entertainment columnist Ed Sullivan.

The show introduced acts and aired breakthrough performances by popular 1960's musicians such as Jerry Lee Lewis, the Beatles, Elvis Presley, the Supremes, the Doors, and the Rolling Stones.

The show ran until 1971, when it was replaced by the CBS Sunday Night Movie

It was this week that the Beatles first appeared on the show.  Here is part that video, including some commentary-- it is quite funny.

See you next time on the Morning Show!
