I don’t know exactly what’s going on in Temple, Texas, but some disturbing news was released today and I am as shocked and disgusted as everyone else. Not only was someone stabbed, but a brief description of the crime paints an even more gruesome picture.

The Bell County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday (March 7, 2023) that Shawn Thomas Goodman had been taken into custody by a SWAT team after being on the run for about three weeks. He's believed responsible for a knife attack described as an "evisceration" by the sheriff's office.

It all started on Wednesday, February 15, when sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a stabbing victim on Tallow Drive in Bell County. Deputies found the victim, who, again, they say suffered an evisceration. The victim was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White hospital in Temple. Police didn't comment on their condition.

Shawn Goodman Quickly Identified as Suspect

An investigation into the incident put 27-year-old Shawn Thomas Goodman on the radar of police. The Bell County District Attorney's office later issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A Citizen Is Credited With Helping Catch Goodman

For about two week, police were unable to locate Goodman. In a news release, the sheriff's department credited a tip from a concerned citizen with helping them finally track their man down.

The Bell County SWAT team, along with a K9 unit from the Temple Police Department and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety, were able to arrest Goodman this week without incident.

Bell County Jail records show that Goodman was booked Tuesday, March 7 on the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, along with a charge of possession of marijuana. His bond was set at a total of $152,000.

THANK YOU TO THE ANONYMOUS CITIZEN

The Bell County Sheriff's department says they want to thank citizens for their involvement in helping to bring this suspect in. This whole situation is very disturbing, so if you have any information that could help investigators find justice for the victim, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Bell County Sherriff's Office at (254) 933-5400.
