Temple Man Accused of Elaborate Scheme Against Walmart

A Central Texas man who tried to repeatedly scam Walmart and Sam's Club out of computer parts is being held without bond today after investigators caught him stealing parts from computers sold at both chain stores.

KWTX News 10 reports that Jose Andres Almonte made several computer purchases at Walmart stores and Sam's Club locations in Waco and Temple. He would remove essential parts and components from the machines and then return them to the location for a refund.

Part of the complaint published by News 10 says, “On October 23, 2018, Almonte (used) one of his Sam's Club membership cards to gain access to Sam's Club #633 6, located in Temple, a credit/debit card at Sam's Club, #633 6 … to purchase a computer.”

It goes on to explain Almonte "removed or caused to be removed internal computer components from the purchased computer, On or about October 23, 2018, Almonte returned the computer, with the components removed … and fraudulently received a refund.”
