A Temple family returned home from church Sunday afternoon to find that their house was damaged by a fire that started in a bedroom.

Temple Fire & Rescue units and Scott & White EMS crews were dispatched to a home on West Xavier at 1:33 PM. They arrived to find smoke coming from the front door of the single-story brick house.

A team of firefighters entered the house to battle flames while another team searched for anyone who may be inside. They later learned the family of five who live in the home were at church.

One bedroom of the home, where the fire is believed to have started, received fire damaged, while the rest of home received extensive heat and smoke damage. Investigators ruled the cause of the fire undetermined.

No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross was called to provide help to the displaced family.
