Poor Hodor got perhaps Game of Thrones’ least-deserved end, and one hopes his afterlife would be far more pleasant. Well, that afterlife is apparently a KFC, as a new commercial with Thrones alum Kristian Nairn memorably recalls the gentle giant’s tragic end.

In the Golden Age of television — or Peak TV, or “oh god, please stop, I have enough to watch already” — shows aren’t just more cinematic, they’re offering us more of everything. That includes more sex scenes, which have become increasingly prevalent, revealing, daring and yes, even artful, reinforcing the notion that TV has become more like film. We recently chose the 25 best movie sex scenes of the last 25 years, and with the smaller screen’s growing resemblance to its big screen brethren, we thought it only right to do the same for television. We also assumed that making a list of the 25 best TV sex scenes of the last 20 years would be far easier and much less surprising. Spoiler alert: We were wrong.

We’re just two weeks from Game of Thrones Season 7 treating us to the longest episodes yet, though the future remains as uncertain as ever. Even less episodes will populate the eighth and final season, and according to those involved, the run-times may get even longer.

We’ve reached one of my favorite times of the year: the annual announcement by the Social Security Administration of the most popular baby names from the previous year. Why is that such a big deal, you might ask? Because each year we get to shake our heads at the number of parents who jump on the pop culture hype train and name their children after movie and television characters. While this year’s list showed that old-fashioned names such as Liam, Mason, and Olivia are back in style, it also featured a predictable handful of names from popular 2015 franchises. Sorry, kids.

We’ve at least thirteen more Game of Thrones episodes in the tank, to say nothing of George R.R. Martin finally finishing the real story in print, but darn it all, if HBO was going to let Westeros get away. Reports confirm at least four spinoff possibilities in the works, with Kong: Skull Island and Kingsman writers competing.
